So, it's an update.
Oct. 17th, 2005 04:07 amWell - it appears that after several months off line we have a working & stable PC again, with properly working broadband - many thanks to
reallyfrank &
vondage. The Doombus went on to eBay, and sold within 3 hours - it's being picked up next week.
Work has been happening to various degrees - The Show in Blackpool ended at the beginning of September, I enjoyed working it and I wouldn't say no to a bit more work like that. I've also had a few random gigs and load-ins and outs, which keeps things ticking over.
LRPing has come to a bit of a stop - I couldn't afford to go to SoS this weekend, and I probably can't afford to go to Riftworld at the end of the month, which is a shame as I like doing it, but there just isn't the spare cash at the moment (mostly it's going on the Mondeo, which is due for tax, insurance & MOT soon).
End of September saw David & Sarah (both xlj) getting married, which was lovely - saw plenty of people there (
wiserabbit &
kardrath in particular) , and stayed in the most goth but shite hotel I've come across in a while - don't bother staying at the Paragon Hotel in Birmingham, it's rather poor (as can probably be testified to by
psion_x). Party was good though - and it was nice to see people. I'll be back in Brum again in early November - but this time I'm staying with the aforementioned sapphic goddesses in Derby.
There have been memes, I didn't think any were particularly worthwhile - you can all guess what the 'sex' meme brought up (or not if you desire), and I had no idea what the 'endless' were until Em explained.
Next up - I need to get fit.
ephrael & I went for a bike ride - for the first mile and a half I was well ahead of Em (who rides 7 miles each way to work each day), then I had a hypo and collapsed. Luckily, not actually being a diabetic my body can find something to use as blood sugar after few minutes, so waited until I could stand up and walked the bikes home. Not god, but no lasting damage. Must remember to eat before I go for a ride.
If any of you (mainly the LRPers I guess) are after a pair of East German Jack Boots - I have a selection of sizes of the genuine things, left over from the Cold War that are going on eBay soon - make me an offer and I'll sort something out for you.
That's about it - hopefully I'll see more of you sooner or later.

Date: 2005-10-16 08:44 pm (UTC)The 'narrow calf' seems to really mean it havign tried on all the big pairs to find ones that fitted me best.
We're thinking of putting them on eBay starting at £10, plus p+p - but please feel free to make an offer!
Riftworld.

Pah! These fairweather diabetics
Date: 2005-10-20 03:18 pm (UTC)Who are you and what have you done with the real Tom? :)
And you don't know what a real hypo is until you have had one. Not kidding, the nurses at the hospital where I was 'indoctrinated into the sacred mysteries' told me that if a patient doesn't have a hypo before they leave they sometimes induce one just so they know how to recognise them.
Forget operating machinary and driving, walking down a plain, flat street with no pedestrians on it can be a death match.
What sizes have you got in these boots and how much do you want? They may do for Cybel kit so I may buy a pair for myself...
