Fantastic timing.
Feb. 17th, 2008 04:34 pmSaturday, I had work over in Harrogate, taking some set down - which was straight forward enough - took van back to Preston (picking up
We had a few beers, some pasta and some sweets and chatted, caught up and plotted for the summer.
Today we planned to gently take NeMA up through the Lakes to Penrith and have a look at the Rheged centre, as it looked interesting when I was working up that way late last year. Which was where it went wrong.... T'was a very cold night overnight and unbeknownst to us, one of the cab heater pipes in NeMA had cracked so she leaked slowly as we drove along - so she overheated in Windemere (which is a very pretty little place). We managed to make a repair to the pipes (by making a little bypass circuit of the cab heater), but the damage was done - there's a horrible mayonnaise type emulsion in the rocker cover, so water's got into the oil somewhere - I suspect the head gasket has gone with the overheating.
Result: towed home on the back of a recovery truck, again. Next mission will be strip the head and check the damage and repair/replace as needed.
Biggest problem however is: We're now having trouble with getting to Elsecar for the LRP Kit Fair - is anyone who's going able to give us two a lift there and back on the Sunday?
