Help required for firefox user!

redhillianI want to run Adobe Reader - so I can open PDFs, but it insists on having the latest version of IE - which I don't have, don't want and won't get.
Any ways to get around this? Other PDF readers for firefox?
All help appreciated. Oh yeah, currently running firefox 2.0 in Win2000 Pro (SP4).
