There and back again to see how far it is.
(2) If you could kill three people tomorrow and not have to worry about consequences, who would you kill?
Killing without the consequence of "And now they're dead. Let that be a lesson to you all." seems kind of pointless to me.
(3) How long do you think it'll take to tidy up your house?
It's tidy enough for me to live in, and untidy enough to scare people off. Maybe when we move out.

I have no one favourite, but one of my top few is One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. I studied it as part of a Russian Studies syllabus, and really enjoyed it then. I still do every time I re-read it.
