redhillian: (first aid says YES)
It was awesome. I had a fantastic time, in a field.

Matt P put it best in the post-event meeting. "First Aid - I have never seen them look so happy pulling injured people out of a fight".

Being on the Arena Team was amongst one of the best LRP weekends I've had in a long time, and certainly for working it as well.

It was a delight to work with so many awesome people - [livejournal.com profile] freddiefraggles getting as dragged into it as I did; [livejournal.com profile] oldnick & [livejournal.com profile] shazrasha at either end; alongside [livejournal.com profile] obsidian_sphinx; Chalkie, Jam, Keiron, Wookie and of course H as my King.

The brief from [livejournal.com profile] pax_draconis was wonderful in all its simplicity - to play a raised member of a dead nation, serving as a punishment was fantastic. I'd do it again tomorrow, even though my legs hurt from skate practice tonight.

I can't list everyone else who was there and made Odyssey so great - I'll only forget someone. But you were all awesome. I enjoyed the event so much I almost feel bad about not having to pay to turn up.

But yes, I have some hot roller derby action this weekend (see next post) and to my delight one of the other newbies knows about LRP and had a mate who went (Persian Philosopher) that can't stop frothing either!

So, where were we up to... ah yes.

NeMA is now running. More news on this and other topics: )

And Sarahanne - if you're reading this, comment and say hi. We need to get back in touch - it's been too long. Over 11 years since the end of the course!

Well, it's after midnight, which means it's birthday time - in particular [livejournal.com profile] annabellelaw, [livejournal.com profile] misterspidergod & [livejournal.com profile] myki are celebrating today along with me.

WhooO!

(Hope you three have more fun than I do - I have to go to work, which this year means driving to Scarborough for the Chuckle Brothers again).

Other news )
That is all.

GEF: busy, hectic, cold, windy. Marquee collapse, hypothermia, unconcious drunks, black-ops auxillury units, overnight shouts. Also friends, ducks and fish. lol! furries.

Saw [livejournal.com profile] reallyfrank & [livejournal.com profile] vondage. Blankets, showers and pesto for the win.

Car dead. Repairman says not worth it. Parents may provide loan to buy battlecar landie. Will keep you posted.

Work tomorrow, going to Sheffield.

Not going to Waypoint, no car to get there. Bum.

At last.

Right, that's the lot done.

Car packed, boots cleaned, food sorted. Tent loaded, sleeping bags counted, clothes folded. Costume checked, props found, prosthetics painted.

We're ready, and off tommorrow morning, will see some of you at Maelstom, the rest of you... well, that's where we are if you want us. Phones should be switched on and we'll be in First Aid most of the time.

Seeya, and have a fun weekend if you're not at the 'strom.

Love,
[livejournal.com profile] redhillian & [livejournal.com profile] ephrael.

Went to Vikings, and crewed. It was good.

Saw [livejournal.com profile] ajon, [livejournal.com profile] bacony, [livejournal.com profile] batelf, [livejournal.com profile] belisarius_534, [livejournal.com profile] foul_temptress, [livejournal.com profile] glove_puppet, [livejournal.com profile] kingandy, [livejournal.com profile] kneeshooter, [livejournal.com profile] littlebus, [livejournal.com profile] maddam, [livejournal.com profile] marlwolf, [livejournal.com profile] mistressp, [livejournal.com profile] myki, [livejournal.com profile] nattydreadi, [livejournal.com profile] richc, [livejournal.com profile] samharber, [livejournal.com profile] serpentstar, [livejournal.com profile] spodula & [livejournal.com profile] wiserabbit. And others.

Enjoyed it a lot.

Am still seriously looking into contacts*, despite having to get half lenses out of peoples eyes.

*This will of course become looking through contacts...

That is all.

Survived the 90mph plus winds, by staying inside - but my, does Blackpool Tower creak when the wind gets up! Car is working well, after attention to engine (coolant leak, easily fixed). Simon (LJnegative) helped.

New tabletop campagin about to begin - [livejournal.com profile] ephrael is running a 70's Americana thing she's made up, with 5 of us playing, should be good.

My recovery process is going well, just a little tenderness at the stitches (disovable type) so I'm now waiting for them to fall out.

I'm off LRPing for the weekend, not the M'froth player event actually, but something a little different with some MilSim Airsofters that [livejournal.com profile] chaotic_gent is introducing me too, so we'll see how that goes. If you need to get a hold of me - tough. Me & my phone are going to be a 'no signal at all' bit of the countryside, and it'll be off anyway. If it's urgent, try phoning [livejournal.com profile] ephrael, who's going to be at home (probrably eating chocolate and watching bad films). I might post a review when I get back on Sunday evening, then again I might not.

Laters all....

Went to frothstrom (as first-aid crew). Saw people. Played on Sunday morning, bought a sword, sold my skills. Took part in the lost-property freecycle scrum. Was given cake, twice. Also a ace coat and a golden apple.

Took [livejournal.com profile] ash1977law & [livejournal.com profile] littlebus home, because for some reason it's easier to get a lift to Preston, then a train to Exeter than go direct from Derby. This doesn't surprise me much. It was nice to havce companyt though, and we dropped in on the girls tro shower and have tea on route home - and we missed the M6 pileup, thanks to being tipped off in advance and choosing a diversion carefully.

Incidently, the cake [livejournal.com profile] reallyfrank & [livejournal.com profile] vondage made for my birthday is featured on: Von's journal, along with some piratical bread.

Have some work for a few days as warehouse cover, which is nice.

If they're reading this - would [livejournal.com profile] batelf or [livejournal.com profile] wiserabbit please contact me, about Artificer. Contact details are here.

See you all whenever/wherever - Plan C then Riftworld as next scheduled to play!
